It's great to be back

The beginning of the second week, and I'm feeling it.
I'm eager to start with the class, even more eager to learn even more.
I have pretty much sorted out the basics of the chemistry we went through last week and I spent some time home reading in the gigantic biology bible.

Every now and then I looked over at my camera but as I said before, the attraction is gone.

I don't have time to look through a lens right now...

First week done

It's time to leave Stockholm and the studies for a while. I'm going home after a really interesting week, with a lot of new experiences.

I cant wait to get home to Caroline and my cats, my mum and dad and my bros'.
You sure need some time off being able to absorb all the facts still spinning in the head.

Why doctor?

It’s really great that the course starts at 16pm. You won’t have to worry oversleeping and you may study until 14pm if you’d like to. Well, oversleeping isn’t my greatest fear since my biological alarm opens my eyes automatically at around 8:30am.

The biology book is too heavy to carry around and today Dr. Moshe told us that we could leave it at home. It’s a rather interesting book thou, if I had another backpack I’d might carry it around anyway for the back strengthening and being able to read whenever and wherever I’d like.
Thou, by second thought, I might dismember or kill someone on the subway when turning a page due to the massive weight, hah.

Dr. Moshe is really good at names and remembers almost all of our names in just four days, I’m really impressed.
The first question we got today was: “Why do you want to become a doctor?”
I sat in the middle of the rows and couldn’t really add anything to the sum of all thought already shared within the previous classmates. It’s a really hard question to answer honestly. Ever since my practice in the ER it just felt as the right thing to do.
As one of the guys put it: “I want to become a doctor because it’s the most difficult thing one can accomplish in life...”
True that.

We laughed and at the same time we somehow realized that we have a long way to go...

I like the subway

As the title state: I like the subway.
It's fast, punctual and connects all the major parts of the city.
Today I didn’t have any problems finding the office where we study. I went straight there and since the room is fairly small with limited seats divided into three rows you have to get there early to get the best spot.

The first day of the course

I had to run in order to be there in time. I totally screwed up and got disorientated in the maze of buildings.
But I managed to get there. So did a lot of people. I counted to about eighteen persons and in the contract we signed up for it stated that a class only can have fourteen. But the more the merrier, right?

So I was glad to finally begin with the studies, and yes, we began the first day. No time wasted.
Being placed in a group for the first time usually makes people nervous and a bit quiet but I could tell that there were only intelligent people here with high hopes of the course.

Dr. Moshe began with a sleight introduction but most of the people had met him once before at an introduction information meeting.
We got some booklets, a book in biology with the size that could kill someone in one blow if dropped from a height. We also got a bag with the company logotype on it and some schedules and random info sheets.

The first lesson was in biology, more exactly macromolecules, which was a pretty normal subject to begin with in an anatomy course.
I can already tell that the tempo will be high and I have to focus throughout the whole lesson. The first break came after approximately two hours of grinding information of molecules and atoms.
I’m glad that I’ve already studied this once before on the basic level – I can imagine how difficult it has to be for someone never even heard about a molecule before.
During the break I hung out with some of the guys in the class and began to introduce myself.

This seems to be a great course...

The day I arrived

That's it. I found my way with the local traffic to Vaxholm and there my relative and now landlady picked my up.

My room is really big but I cant stand the colour on the walls; the first thing that met my eyes were the orange walls, but there's no need to judge. The family is really nice and I as kindly received.
The kids got a new Nintendo Wii at Christmas and they challenged me in a sword duel. I was terrible at it but hey, it was a really good in order to break the ice.
We had a fabulous dinner and I felt accepted and acclimatized almost at once.

Now I'll pack up my things...

Dexter on a train

I'm leaving tomorrow.
The course starts on Monday at 16pm but I need some time to get used to the city and establish myself in my new hideout.

My backpack is pretty big and it’s so heavy a fellow might believe it’s filled with bloody stones.
Monday. The starting day of the course – and Caroline's birthday.
She went home to her family yesterday and it felt a bid sad when we said farewell at the station.

I converted some movies and some episodes of Dexter season one to watch on the train. I just saw the first episode of the series and was totally blown away by the high level of excitement. Adding that to the fact that it’s about the paradox of being a serial killer and a blood splatter expert on the Miami Homicide Agency just spins it up even more.

Scrubs is awesome - Dexter is even more awesome...

New hair - New possibilities

I thought it was time to deal with my hair once and for all. So Caroline and I decided to cut it all off, and voila! Now I look proper in a suit and my beloved shirts that I bought.

Why didn't I cut a shorter haircut before?...

2010 and I'm fit for fight

Christmas and New Year’s Eve was a blast.
A lot of food and social manners, I kind of like that.

Getting together with my relatives is always so much fun, too bad I couldn’t join Caroline's celebration too. Since she is from another city we had to split up.
Now it’s 2010 and it’s still strange not typing two zeros in a row, one kind of got used to that after nine years of 200x.

What’s more important is that I’m preparing for Stockholm. My parents gave me a lot of studying material like pencils, notebooks and office material this Christmas so I’m fit for fight.
My mother was also kind enough to give me money for train tickets so I can come home every once in a while. I guess she has missed me a bit ever since I moved out.

Busy planning the journey...
